Hawthorne House Luxury Bed and Breakfast – Your Hosts
Mike and Melanie Lewis are your hosts at Hawthorne House luxury B&B in Hawke’s Bay.
Mel, a Kiwi, left New Zealand as a ‘backpacker’ in 2001 and returned nearly a decade later with an English husband and a child. Mel has travelled throughout Europe including a period indulging her love of cooking working at an Italian cooking school near Positano on the Amalfi Coast.
Mike, from the UK, discovered a passion for cooking working in hotels and restaurants in the UK where he initially received culinary training from the former head chef of the Dorchester.
Mike lived in Spain as a child and speaks fluent Spanish to native level together with a basic level of French and Italian.
Having travelled extensively throughout the world, they were attracted to the outstanding natural beauty of Hawke’s Bay. They are thrilled to be living in such a beautiful place – and in a position to share it with their guests.
