On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with an afternoon tea with baking from our country kitchen. Coffee from Hawthorne Coffee, the local roastery, and tea is on offer all year round. During the summer months, a long cool glass of homemade lemonade will be just the thing after a few hours in the car.
As the day comes to a close, enjoy a sun-downer and canapés. Hawke’s Bay is home to a large number of quality wineries and we are proud to take this opportunity to showcase some of the best. It may inspire your day tomorrow, or allow you to taste wine from one of the ones you had to miss. A platter of local nibbles fills in that time between your fun-filled day and the delights of dinner. Whether it's some locally grown asparagus, roasted and served with home-made parmesan mayonnaise, or a platter of local cheeses, it's sure to delight.
Breakfast at Hawthorne is not to be missed. The first decision is where to sit; in your room, on your verandah, in the breakfast room, on the deck overlooking the garden, or even on the railway platform with the ducks for company!
We use organic and locally grown produce where possible and often from our own garden. Eggs are from our own free-range chickens and the muesli and granola are homemade.
